Khipu Notes
Ascher Databook Notes:
- This is one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 1907 with provenance Pachacamac. For a list of them, see UR1097.
- A large space on the main cord separates the khipu into 2 parts.
- By spacing, the first part is separated into 2 sets of 2 pairs, then 2 groups of 5 pendants each, and then another pair. The first 2 pairs alternate in color: W, MB, W, MB. The rest of the pendants (with the exception of the last one) are W with an MB subsidiary.
- The second part is less consistent in group size, subsidiary placement, and color. The values are lower in order of magnitude than those in the first part.
