Khipu Notes:
Ascher Databook Notes:
  1. Another pendant, just after pendant 5, was probably present as indicated by the discoloration on the main cord.
  2. This was one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 1904 with provenance between Ica and Pisco. For a discussion of them, see UR1098.
  3. By spacing, the khipu consists of 4 groups of 6 pendants each. Each group has the same color pattern.
  4. In each group, the value in position 3 is a multiple of the value in position 2. The value of position 3 is also a multiple of 10.
  5. Seventeen of the 21 values on the khipu are multiples of 3 or 5. The different multiples present are:

    3 times i where i=0 to 5 but i≠3
    5 times i where i=1 to 6 but i≠5
