Ascher Databook Notes:
  1. The khipu is threaded through a wooden bar. Figure 1 shows the way it is attached to the bar and Figure 2 shows details of the bar itself.
  2. This is one of several khipus acquired by the Museum in 189 9 with provenance Marquez. The group includes UR1106, UR1107, UR1124, AS132, and AS133. For a comparison of them, see #4 below.
  3. By the manner of attachment to the bar, pendants 1-30 are separated into 4 groups of 9, 8, 7, and 6 pendants. With the excep tion of the second pendant in group 1, the groups have the same basic color order but with some positions non-existent in the smaller groups. The color order is: YB, BS: 0B, LB, YB, LB, YG, BS, LB, 0B. The non-existent positions are the last in the second group, the 4th and last in the third group, and the 3rd, 6th, and 7th in the fourth group.
  4. Comparison of UR1106, UR1107, UR1124, AS132, AS133:
    1. UR1106 and UR1107 are designated by the same Museum number. UR1107 is loosely tied around the wooden bar through which UR1106 is threaded. The 4 cord colors used on UR1107 are 4 of the 5 colors used on UR1106.
    2. Each of UR1106 and UR1124 is threaded through a wooden bar.
    3. AS132 and AS133 are designated by the same Museum number. On each of them, the first cord is linked through the twisted end of the main cord.
